There are small lights that can illuminate the edges of walkways without lighting up the whole side of a mountain. The thing to remember is that people have very different abilities to see in the dark. The Dark Skies people have said that is because we haven’t trained our eyes to see in the dark. That may be true but some people just see nothing in the dark. One of our members and I were “discussing” where we needed a sign for the bathroom. I wanted to put it on the door and she wanted it on the wall beside the door because if the door was open, you can’t see the sign. I said but you can just look in and see that it is the bathroom. We ended up going out into the hallway to look. She honestly could not see well enough to know that this was the bathroom. Even though the door blocked the ceiling light, I could clearly see a sink, toilet, grab bar, mirror, etc. We put the sign on the wall.
