Village Hearth Cohousing, a 55+ community, has no policy about minimum
age. We have 28 units. Currently all have at least one resident who is
at least 55 ( I think everyone is over 55 but I'm not sure). We could
have up to 5 units occupied by people under 55 but we don't expect it to
be an issue. Our units are small with no more than two bedrooms.
Cohousing often skews older even in multi-generation communities. I know
of at least one local community that is designated multi-generation but
has no residents under 55.
One reason for no minimum is that we know grandparents sometimes need to take in grandchildren and we wouldn't want to force someone to move out because of that.

Hoping to hear from Senior Cohousing communities about their age policies. What is the minimum age for membership?
