Dear Holly, And Everyone Else!

Oh have we worked on this conundrum!

And Sharon has to a large extent summarized the situation!
Mean while, I just looked at my ‘CommonHouse Flooring' file.

If you want it I will send. It is composed of input from this ListServ.
And is 36—THIRTY SIX — pages of info!!

We are figuring out replacing the tiles in our kitchen. And it is such a
complexity.

In most of the rest of the main floor of our CommonHouse— Dining room and
Living room—
We have bamboo—— it has held up very well!
As of now, we are most likely to go with bamboo for our kitchen.

The one big concern is that we still have a commercial dishwasher.
The chemical used in it will destroy the flooring if it drips.
We did consider ceramic tile. However, as you know, it is hard on us when we
cook, etc.
Also very likely to shatter anything at all fragile when dropped on the floor.

A local business has vinyl tile and it holds up beautifully.
The reason we are not doing vinyl is that, as you likely know,
it is toxic to the people who work manufacturing it.
So far, when I have checked, there is no non-toxic production of vinyl——
Please please let us know if you find otherwise.
