What the chemicals did to the floor was one reason I was happy to switch to conventional dishwashers that use ecological soap. I studied every kind of floor endlessly. All of the green advisors thought Marmoleum was the best solution. Ours is still fine but it does look more worn than I think it should. And I still haven’t found anything else that would be better. Genuine hardwood might be the best since it can be sealed with a hard varnish or similar and isn’t as hard as concrete or ceramic tile. You will need to keep the floors polished to protect the surface. The real issue is that the floor needs to be swept after every meal and any spills cleaned up with damp mopping. Otherwise, the dirt grinds up the surface. I don’t think there is anything about cohousing that makes the difference except that not all members clean it all the time. Choosing is superficially like choosing between Biden and Trump. The choice is not “neither.” The choice is do you want Biden or do you want Trump. So the comparison is Marmoleum vs what?
