About the Community:
Emerson Commons is a new-ish community in the small and growing town of
Crozet, Virginia, about 20 minutes from Charlottesville. Right now we're
composed of 19 homes, most attached, with a few more lots yet to be
developed.

We're a multigenerational neighborhood, with a mix of people at all ages
and stages of life. Currently, we have 12 children in the neighborhood,
ranging in age from 2 to 13, who love to use the pedway and green between
our homes as their own personal playground. The adults here also do a lot
of socializing along the pedway and on our front porches.

Our common house, a 1900s farmhouse, hosts gatherings like circle
(committee) meetings, common meals, and parties. It also offers two guest
rooms for members' friends and family, supplementing our smaller home
sizes. In the summer, our outdoor pool is a popular spot for spontaneous
gatherings and grill-outs.

We offer optional common meals twice a week, with all adult participants
taking turns to provide food—so you only cook once for every 29 meals you
enjoy. We hold a monthly plenary (community-wide) meeting to provide
feedback to circles and make major decisions. Most adults are members of at
least one work circle, meeting once or twice a month with some physical or
administrative volunteer work in between. Circles include: Structures,
Landscape, Finance, Community Life, Process, and various sub-circles.

If you'd like to learn more, email us at info [at] emersoncommons.org! We're
happy to answer your questions and set up a tour.
