A number of members and friends of Sunnyside Village Cohousing are 
participating in the Economic Blackout on 2/28/25. We hope other cohousers may 
feel the same and join us.

These are unprecedented times which call for strong action if we want our 
democracy to survive.
The Economic Blackout is simple: don't buy anything for 24 hours (except local 
small businesses). This sends a message that we are organized and  can work 
together and that we are getting their attention economically - because what 
they understand is money.

CBS news has stories about it as do other big names. It is becoming a thing 
internationally.
 I'm more and more convinced that the negative and critical comments on social 
media are Bots & Trolls (not real people). They are intended to make us feel 
discouraged and to think this won’t work. But real humans want national parks, 
air traffic controllers, to feel our US treasury is safe, and for the most 
vulnerable of our citizens to have their needs met. The Economic Blackout is a 
powerful action that we can take together. 

Rev. Dr Martin Luther King Jr said: “Our lives begin to end the day we become 
silent about things that matter.”
