Cohousers: My random thoughts. The only group that can self-select consists of
the original founding members. One marketing strategy you could use on your
webpage is to have photos of same gender couples with testimonials from members
referencing their wife or husband. Same gender couples dancing together. Maybe
you have a photo of your community meeting with a Pride flag.

Before my place became HUD-certified senior housing, prospective members had to
come to a community dinner and attend a meeting. While we couldn't say, it was
clear who lived here, with reading glasses lying around all over the place.
Dinner conversations weren't about doctors and pediatrics. We talked about
doctors and geriatrics.

Many communities have a list of members on their websites, ours does. Members
post short bios. Ours are descriptive, such as "Avery and their wife Harper" or
"Parker is an active organizer of the community Pride celebration ..."

I think it is in bounds to list general community characteristics:
Who we are ...
- 80 percent are retired- 20 percent still work- 100 percent find time to
volunteer in the community

- 30 percent self-identify as a man- 50 percent self-identify as a woman- 20
percent self-identify as non-binary

- 50 percent enjoy reading- 20 percent like to take long walks- 20 percent play
board games on Wednesday night- 10 percent are pickleball hackers-100 percent
enjoy hanging with their neighbors
