We started with associates, changed to friends--but then people wanted everyone to be one--so now have affiliate membership. Covers old members, people who live in the area and want to hang with us, people in the next door Cohousing that want to use our resources (especially music room, garden, hot tub) or really wanted to live on our community. Affiliates pay at least 5% of our average Cohousing fee (most pledge about $5 per month). They can take part in decision making outside of buildings and money but mostly don't. When we say "members" it includes affiliates. Some discussion of whether renters are affiliates but decided everyone who lives on campus is a full member not an affiliate. -Liz (The Rev.
