Some communities have built homes with a basement apt that could be rented. The 
usual arrangement is to rent ADUs if not occupied by a family member. The 
details of owning a property jointly is determining who owns what and who can 
use what. And what happens if one party sells? Does the other party have a 
right to approve the new owner?

Many people are looking for rentals in cohousing and there are very few. At 
Takoma Village we have had very good experiences with renters. They add variety 
and richness to the community culture, particularly when there have been few 
resales for several years.
