Exciting! Please see Fresh Energy's email to FUS below about the next step we can take. Shannon Williams Social Justice Coordinator First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis <mailto:sjc [at] firstunitarian.org> sjc [at] firstunitarian.org (612) 377-6608 x104 <http://www.firstunitarian.org/> www.firstunitarian.org Good morning, Marcy, Nancy, Shannon, and Catherine, I think each of you has contacted Fresh Energy this week for ideas on next steps on climate action, specifically to move beyond coal in Minnesota. As you know (and many Minnesotans had a hand in this), the Public Utilities Commission has now received over 11,400 public comments (a record number) in support of replacing Minnesota's biggest carbon polluter (Sherco 1 and 2) with clean, efficient energy. A big upcoming event is being spearheaded by Congressman Keith Ellison, a Rally for Clean Air and Climate Protection to be held the evening of November 6 in North Minneapolis. A big focus will be on supporting the EPA's move forward to limit carbon pollution from coal plants. Rep. Ellison intends to have a strong environmental justice and moral component to this rally. Here below is the save-the-date notification from his office. Fresh Energy is working directly with the Congressman and his staff, and we would love to see a group from First Unitarian there on November 6. SAVE THE DATE: NOVEMBER 6 Congressman Ellison would like to invite your group to -- What: Rally for Clean Air and Climate Protection When: Evening of Wednesday, November 6, 2013 Where: North Community High School Auditorium More information to come. We appreciate you saving the date and spreading the word, and look forward to rallying with you. Thank you! J. J. Drake Hamilton Science Policy Director Fresh Energy
