I've responded personally to a number of people who've asked about Chicago
cohousing recently, but, in view of the interest expressed by a number of
different people, thought it might be a good idea to post the following
information on the news group:

In addition to the groups mentioned in Levy River's recent posting, there
are 2 Cohousing core groups in the Chicago area right now.One (Prairie
Commons) is looking for a site in the near north suburbs. The other
(Community of Reconciliation) is planning a spiritually-based community,
probably within Chicago.

The contacts for Prairie Commons are David Ramsay and Marianne Evans-Ramsay
at (847)328-7266. The Community of Reconciliation contact is Anne Jowaisas
at (312)528-2468.

There is also an "umbrella" group, the Chicago Cohousing Network, that acts
as an information, education and referral service. The network has
published a newsletter every month for at least four years, which includes
news from the core groups (I'm the newsletter editor). The Network also
conducts periodic "Intro to Cohousing" sessions.

Newsletter subscriptions are $10/yr. for 12 issues. If you'd like to
subscribe, please send a check to the Chicago Cohousing Network, c/o Hal
Mead, 2205 Maple C-1, Evanston, IL 60201.

I read the news group pretty regularly. If anyone has questions, please
feel free to contact me. I can usually get back to you within a few days.
