Here at Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood the rammed earth walls are nearly =
finished in our first three houses, the bond beam, upstairs floor and =
timber walls will follow in the next couple of weeks, and the builder =
plans to get the roof on shortly after that. We've started planning an =
event (or maybe two) to celebrate the completion of the first roof, both =
as a celebration for our members and the builders, and as a media event =
to sell more houses.
As the standard kiwi "roof shout" consists of the clients buying several =
crates of beer and the builders drinking it, we feel the need to be =
culturally creative and invent something a little more celebratory.
Is this an event that has significance in the States? I'd love to hear =
how other communities have marked this milestone in the construction =
process. All ideas welcome!
