Community dog I really like this idea. We have a small place and lots of kids, each secretly/publically wanting their very own furball. Cats are out as we try to encourage native birds and they can't all have a dog. Things in cages lose their charm when mucking out gets real. 18 months ago, when Debbie's live-in carer moved in, his dog was part of the package. Bella gradually became part of the fabric of our community. Even the most cold-blooded pet hater had to admit that she was an asset. When her owner moved on we had a double sadness. I'd love to get another dog that is shared. I suspect that one person/family would need to take primary responsibility, someone to get the dog trained, and as a fall-back position. The first question is, as always, what is the dog for - security or playmate?
