What would it take for you to move into cohousing?

At the end of the SF Bay Area tour of cohousing communities that I co-led in May, as part of the evaluation, I asked participants the following question: "Assume for the moment, that you'd like to live in cohousing 'some day.' What would have to happen in your personal or work life before that some day can come around for you?" (No one in that group already lives in a cohousing community.).

I'd like to extend that question here to all of you who are not already in a built or building community. Please send your responses to joani [at] swansway.com and I will summarize and send the summary back to the list. Here are some of the responses from folks on our tour....just to set you to thinking.

I'd have to convince my husband (wife, kids) that it'd be a good idea.
I'd have to save (or earn or inherit) a lot more money
I have to wait until my kids finish high school
I just bought a house, so I guess I'd have sell it.
.....you get the jist.......

What would have to happen for YOU to move into cohousing or to enthusiastically join an existing group or community? I'll keep your responses confidential and just feedback numbers and anonymous comments.
