Cohousing-L Mailing List: Outside smokers

Does anyone else have problems breathing smoke as they sit on their
porch or deck?

I don't live in cohousing yet, we break ground in the spring. However, I
currently live in a large old house divided into 10 apartments. A
3-apartment carriage house is also on the property. The group has two
heavy smokers. There is no smoking in the apartments, because smoke
circulates through forced air ducts, so the smokers sit outside. The
result is when I go into the yard to hang laundry or sit on my second
floor steps, I am hit with wafts of smoke.

My new home, Wild Sage Cohousing, will be similarly dense (34 units on
1-1/3 acres) In Colorado, the weather is beautiful and I hope to spend a
lot of time on my deck. 

Do any communities have designated outside smoking areas, away from
homes?
