[I say only moderately-informed because I know the following numbers are correct, but I don't understand the general conversation (or statistics themselves) well enough to comment about the overall meaning of this] According to HUD for 2003 in the Washington DC Metro area the median family income is $84,800. For for the purposes of Community Development Block Grants, the following families count as "low-income": - families of 5 with an income of $61,000 - families of 4 with an income of $56,500 - families of 3 with an income of $50,850 - Families of 2 - $45,200 - families of 1 - $39,550. "Very Low Income" - families of 5 with an income of $47,000 - families of 4 with an income of $43,500 - families of 3 with an income of $39,150 - Families of 2 - $34,800 - families of 1 - $30,450.
