Sharingwood is kind of rural and we have 95 residents,(Until the end of the month) of which 34 are non-owners. Which at 35% skews the curve, but I sense we are not typical. That's about 13%. Here at Takoma Village we have about 9 renters (renting either rooms or whole units) out of about 70 residents* also about 13%. So that's quite a bit above 5%. We have 43 units. I wonder if our communities are average, or if we are anomalies. Takoma Village and Jackson Place are both urban cohousing communities. Certainly, here in Seattle, a lot of people want to combine living in an intentional community with living in the heart of the city. The main obstacle is cost. I am not sure, but that might explain why we have so many renter residents in proportion to owners and their families. We could probably have more renters if we had the space for them to rent.
