Many things at Sharingwood have been paid for by individuals. We keep our
assessments really low by encouraging gift giving. This has rarely
resulting in getting a unwanted gift. However, people can and have used
budget processes in the past to squish th ings an individual did not want
to pay for. When such things were gifted however, the objection was
dropped.

We hold an annual community garage sale (This Saturday!) as well which is
often used to raise money for some team or cause. This year some folks
will donate their proceeds to our new compassionate care fund, which is a
chunk of donated money which people with money problems can access, either
as loans or gifts, to help them through a hard time.

Generosity is a virtue in my value system.
