Becky - interestingly enough we are about to do this for the first time. We have a Wellness Retreat (day long gathering to connect, clear the air...check - enhance the wellness of the community). We are just starting this tradition. It will be our second gathering. The first activity we are doing is telling the story of our community..each person will tell what was happening in the community when they joined. We still have one couple that started and have been with the group continuously...we then have one that has been involved but less intensely from the beginning and a couple of other folks that dropped out and are back. We hope to make this a tradition...so that over the years the story of our community becomes gnown (grounded gut level knowing) to us. We are just over half full at this point (16 households out of 30) have our land and have put in our application to be put on the Corvallis ballet in November. One thought I've had is to plan a time when various people tell parts of the history of the community up until the present. Very few people were here from the beginning and therefore don't know much about when the community began. Generally new people don't know much about the history before they moved in. I like the idea of people telling parts of our history as they see it and hearing others tell other parts. We moved in in 2000 and I think people first started talking about this in about 1993 or 1994. If people in other communities have done this, would you be willing to tell me how you structured it? I'm looking for ideas.
