I actually like the texture of Tectum and would have far preferred it to fabric panels. The fabric has a delicate feel and I live in fear that a child will throw a ball up and crush one of the panels. They do throw balls up in the air all the time and the panels can be touched from the second floor walkway as well.

The advantage of Tectum is that it is essentially indestructible (it's wood) and can be painted. It does have a lower acoustical rating than fiberglass panels and is more expensive -- or at least it was when we initially priced it. In the end I think our panels were more expensive because they had to change shipping methods to avoid dents. In the long run, I personally think Tectum is the better buy.
