Hello all -- I am posting this message to the list for one of my neighbors here at Takoma Village Cohousing in Washington, DC. Please do NOT reply to me. Reply directly to Mary Jane. Her email is included as part of her signature line. Thank you! Ann Z. --begin-- I am seeking info on cohousing workshops, as in a place where one can repair things, do woodworking, paint furniture, etc. I checked the archives and did not find much of anything, probably because searching on "workshop" brought up great quantities of emails on seminars and educational workshops and the like. I am particularly seeking guidelines adapted by communities for the use of their workshops. At Takoma Village in DC, we are finally planning to equip our workshop with tools and supplies. There is concern about safety around the power tools, who should use the room and when, etc. I am working on a set of guidelines (rules) for using the area and the equipment. If any of you out there have written guidelines, I would love a copy! I am also interested in any description of how you handle safety issues, power tools, if you lock things up (or down), who can use the room, etc. I know other communities have done good work on this issue, and we would like to learn from your experience. Thanks very much, Mary Jane Cavallo <mcav [at] loc.gov> --end--
