Brooklyn Cohousing is looking for a Developer, preferably with cohousing experience, to come in and partner with us at our planned home at 1901 Eighth Avenue.

Project Achievements/Status:
We have dealt with the consumer protection issues at the Attorney General's office. We have all building permits in place, schematic designs and design development complete, and an excellent local project management team vetted and ready to supervise construction. This building is designed to be the first Passive House in the United States, achieving energy savings of over 75% over ordinary new construction multi-family housing. Member Group is very strong and cohesive, have not lost a single member in 2 years on arduous self-development path.
Member financial commitment is high, and non-refundable.
See www.brooklyncohousing.org for detailed plans and project information.

We are 16 member households currently, will have 30 units total.
Acquisition/construction financing has proved exceptionally challenging in today's climate; we have determined that we need an equity partner to make it all work.

In past 2 weeks we have added 14 new associate households, and accepted 3 new "provisional members", ready to move into membership within 3 days of financing being secured. 2 more provisional members in process. We have an emailing list of over 650 people who want to live in cohousing in NYC (subscription growing weekly).

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity for a developer to establish a foothold as the first cohousing developer in New York City.

Serious candidates only please, time is of the essence. Must be prepared to bring a minimum of $3 million to the table to help us make this site work.
