automated defibrillators, again

I've been looking in the archives - this topic came up in 2007 and again last November. From last year's set of messages it seemed that 4 or 5 communities had an AED in their common house, but probably there are more who didn't write in.

This is again being considered for our CH and I'd like to know what the annual maintenance costs are likely to be. Also, is it true that a unit will have to be replaced after 5 years?

My impression is that initial costs would be between around $1500 and $2000 depending on how many extra cables, batteries, pads, and whatever else you purchase along with the basic unit, but this is easier to find out than overall life-cycle costs that we'd need to budget for.

I'd appreciate any cost info anyone may have. Thanks!
