Fair Oaks EcoHousing received unanimous approval April 13 from the
Sacramento (California) Planning Commission, which called it "a wonderful
project that will raise the quality of life in Sacramento." It was a very
happy day for the eleven households who have worked hard to reach this
milestone.

The project is expected to break ground early next year, with move-in
slated for the summer of 2017. When the project is complete, 30 homes will
be clustered on the 3.8 acre property bordered by Fair Oaks Boulevard and
New York Avenue near old Fair Oaks Village, 18 miles from downtown
Sacramento. The homes will range in size from two-bedroom flats to
four-bedroom townhomes, along with extensive community facilities and
garden areas. Access to the scenic American River bike trail is nearby.
This infill project will provide the first cohousing available in the
Sacramento suburbs.

The unanimous approval by the Planning Commission reflects over a year of
patient and diligent outreach to future neighbors, and the many county
planning authorities. In the end, all parties gave their endorsement and
welcome.

At the moment, there are still 21 units available, with discounts available
for the next 30 days. If you're in the area, come with us on one of our
