Great questions and comments, Tom and Chris.

Chris - Yes and Yes. This purpose is multi-fold.

It is definitely meant to be a big marketing push - nationally and locally
for each group, as a part of the whole. After all, that's how we formed
our groups in the first place, right? Weather we call it 'marketing' or
'outreach' or simple 'meeting new people', it is needed to create and
sustain our communities. If we don't have 'opening' in your community now,
we all will at some point. Isn't it ideal to have a ready waiting list of
people practically knocking down your doors to be a part of your community
who understand the cohousing model and dynamics already.

Having people visit, learn about, see and talk to people there first hand
will certainly help with that!

What are we marketing? Its a combination of at least 2 levels. One is
certainly the individual communities, as stated above, to help each one
grow in whatever way they want and build a supportive network around them.
Also, just as important, as Tom says it, to let more people at large know
about cohousing as a viable option. This will grow the 'national market'
and increase awareness around this option and way of living and working
together.

Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to start conversations by always
explaining WHAT it is - if people know about it and are looking for who's
doing it in their area! That's where we'd all like to get to.

Social - Yes, definitely! I envision this event being as much fun for the
members themselves as it is for the public to come to. I really believe
that's what will make it successful. When we have fun together, this will
also draw other people. Let's aim to get as many of "ourselves" actively a
part of the day as possible!

Also, both of these things will go hand and hand, right? Being social and
bringing people together is also a form of 'marketing', if you will.

Tom - Definitely! Yes, we will work on getting great national press around
this! In fact, if you want to help with that effort, please let me know.
I would love to work with you and anyone else interested in making and
implementing a plan. Thanks for your enthusiasm.
Which community as you a part of?
