Jasmine,

At DurhamCoho we encourage the use of Google Docs for document sharing.
However many of our members never got the hang of Google Docs and simply
share Microsoft Office files as email attachments. This has the expected
drawbacks but it's the only method that everybody seems to be able to use.

Similarly, we've tried a number of different ways to disseminate
information within the community such as a web forum and an internal-use
web site, but the only method that all our members have mastered is a
Google Groups mailing list. Sub-groups such as committees use whatever
method pleases them. We tried setting up separate Google Groups for each
committee but it was too complicated to be worth the trouble.

We have a separate mailing list for external communication. We have about
260 addresses on this list. It works pretty well.
