Re: request to post the following about fire elements in cohousing developments

I'd like to see the responses go back to the list, as we too are again
starting to discuss a fire element for the CH. We initially built a flue
into the upstairs Great Room for possible future use, but left the actual
decision for later as it was rather contentious. So, 12 years later, we
decided that we'd like to have a power-outage heat backup in the lower
level. But what should it be?

As a backup for the uncommon winter-time power outages, presumably it would
only be used for a few days every year, so the particulate matter from wood
wouldn't be a serious concern. There is no gas line here but we do have
propane for the CH kitchen range.
