Funny that you should post that. I was driving around randomly and discovered this fabulous bungalow colony that was built in the 1920's as officers' housing on what was then Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. It's now owned by a public/private entity that took over the base when it was decommissioned. The houses are gorgeous. They're all vacant, but have been well maintained and are in great shape, as far as I could tell from looking in the windows. There are fifteen grand large houses and a bunch of servants' quarters that are about the size of a one-bedroom apartment. If anyone wants to move to San Antonio and live on a former air force base right next door to a massive NSA facility, get in touch!
