We also built one similar to what Sandra described. It got used only a couple times and then gradually disintegrated. Now we have a big stone and concrete base witting in a valuable location that many of us think should be removed, but others think is a good thing all by itself, especially considering all the work that went into building it. IMO, we did not have a good experience with our community cob oven. -- Mac Thomson Heartwood Cohousing Southwest Colorado http://www.heartwoodcohousing.com "Expect nothing; be prepared for anything" - Samurai Saying ********************************************************** > On May 8, 2021, at 10:11 AM, Sandra J Stowell <sjstowell1000 [at] gmail.com> > wrote: > > Personal take on our community cob oven, now gone... after some angst, much > delay, and a some hard work. > > We built a sturdy block base (that was difficult to remove) for a cob oven > built for us in a training workshop (which was rescheduled 2 or 3 times). > > Then community put on a thin stucco coat and built a roof that was sturdy & > just barely large enough to shelter a cook table and a chef.
