Our by laws say you will have a lien put against your house if you do not
pay your dues. This comes from the experience of another cohousing
community where they had to do that - sounds like under similar
circumstances that you are having.  We had it in our by-laws from the get
go but I think they had to add it as the situation happened.
Every month, when the statement comes out, it says there is a fifteen
dollar late fee so that would accumulate for someone.  So far we've been
lenient about that esp. since the mail was slow this year and many people's
bank issued checks were arriving late (we are not set up for auto bill pay
yet).
