We have 2 workdays a month that run 3 hours each on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday of the month, year-round. The first is strictly Common House cleaning. The second is mostly outdoor work with a smattering of facility maintenance chores. Our work agreement asks all community members to contribute 6- 12 hours/mo to the community but we don’t distinguish intellectual work from physical work. There are some who do both kinds, one kind, or none. We don’t track hours at this time and we don’t ask for or require a buy-out at this time. I’m interested in knowing how Nomad in Boulder arrived at a $50 amount? I organize the mostly-outdoor work days. Our average turnout over the past 12 months has been about 70% of occupied households. We have 30 units but haven’t had 100% occupied for some time. New residents are welcome but not expected to pitch in on move-in month. In my count of participants I also exclude households where the resident is not able to help due to illness, injury, work, or travel. If there are leftover items to be completed , the to-do list is left out for adoption. Lisa Morrison Daybreak Cohousing Portland OR
