Welcome Fellow Cohousers, to a Special *Deepening Black History* Month 🌿 Black History Month is one major part of supporting accuracy-in-history for the whole of the U.S. Because history (inaccurate or accurate) impacts the entire country, and informs current inspiring and horrific events. Many Cohousing Communities have taken on deepening their personal, familial, and/or community awareness of the countless aspects of U.S. Black History. Inspired by international partnerships, and requests from CohoUS's Community for All Conference, The *Deepening Diversity-From Our Voices Circles Guide* <https://www.cohousing.org/black-cultural-awareness-menu-an-intro/> (on CohoUS’s site) was curated. Now, many diverse people use it at work, home, in school and in community. For example: In this 4-minute video, *Black Parents Explain* <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coryt8IZ-DE&t=16s> (to their kids) How to Deal with the Police, is one of the top requested/viewed. *Deepening Diversity-From Our Voices Circles Guide* <https://www.cohousing.org/black-cultural-awareness-menu-an-intro/> is free and available to everyone, 24/7. It covers countless subjects and categories that are updated periodically: Humor & educomedy, cinema, panel discussions, family & kids, academia, history, science, music, medicine, sports, travel, housing, health, excellence, etc. There are many entertaining, humorous, inspiring and deeply challenging approaches to deepening awareness of U.S. history and daily perceptions, to suit your current focus and mood. Feel free to explore great heroes, villains, and everyday people every month, and especially this month. Here are two more video examples to start with: For Black History Month specific facts, here is a 6-minute newsroom style commentary by Comedienne/Writer/Host Amber Ruffin: *Why We Need a White History* *Month* <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdRAuBuZMNQ&t=7s> (you can play a fact-check game w/her commentary within the links list, with a word-search). More on CohoUS's very valuable *Community for All Conference*. recording.. (our community passed the hat and bought it—we can view sections or binge-watch it). Here is a 4-minute trailer of CohoUS’s Community for All Conference <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brG9ez5Y8Vg&t=13s>. The Community for All Site says <https://www.cohousing.org/2020-all/schedule/> for a discount community rate for the Community For All Full Conference recording, The website still says to email Karin Hoskin at karincohous [at] gmail.com.to purchase your copy It is a valuable conference that remains very insightful and impactful. With much warmth and healing insights, EVC’s Outreach Group 🌿 Eastern Village Cohousing, Silver Spring, MD
