Nevada City Cohousing currently has 4+ Associate Households who do not
live on the HOA property but participate in dinners and other
community events. In addition to our dinners, they can use the pool.

Associates are not allowed to use the laundry or guest rooms, as those
are at full use with our 34 households.  They are involved at various
levels, changing over the years as lives change….but very much part
of our “community.”  We especially appreciate more cooks in the
meal system. Some are active in work days, but of course, they all
have their own properties to maintain outside of cohousing so we
don’t expect a lot there.

People apply to be Associate with a community member sponsor and pay
$127/mo for 2026 fees (the real costs for maintaining the facilities
they are most likely to use).

While you’d like get a wide range of opinions from different
community members, I think our Associate program is good for all and
brings in real resources ($ and people power) to keep our community
lively. And these folks would be hanging out here a lot anyway, so
great to have them making a financial contribution to keep it all
going.
