Cohousing-L Mailing List: Coming to the Summit? Stay for the Seniors in Cohousing Forum

As a member of other National Cohousing Alliance (NCA) Seniors in Cohousing
Committee, I'm delighted to invite cohousers from the Front Range and
beyond to join us in Boulder, the day after the Cohousing and Beyond Summit
in Denver, at a small intensive gathering organized by and for seniors
living in cohousing.

What: A Day-Long Forum: “Sharing Challenges & Best Practices for Aging in
Community”

We invite experienced senior residents of established cohousing communities
(multi-gen and senior-focused) to participate in a day-long interactive
Forum to share best practices, challenges and what we have collectively
learned about the important issues of aging in community, the realities of
which have often unfold in ways that weren't anticipated. What are
cohousing communities--both intergenerational and senior--doing to navigate
these challenges and be resilient?

The Forum is independently convened by the all-volunteer Seniors in
Cohousing Committee of the National Cohousing Alliance (NCA); it follows
the NCA’s day-long Community-Rooted Housing Summit on October 24 in Denver,
but is not officially part of the Summit or included on the registration
form there, so please do spread the word to anyone you know who is already
signed up to attend the Summit or making their travel plans.

We hope you’ll attend the Summit (and perhaps the tours beforehand) and
then join us the next day in Boulder. the Forum registration form includes
info designed to help arrange carpools and other ways of getting you there,
along with collecting your info on key topics we should address at the
Forum.

Participation in the Forum is limited to 1-2 people per community, in order
to get a wide variety of perspectives from different communities. We are
giving preference in admission to folks with lived community experience, no
matter your age.

Living in Community at Berkeley (CA) Cohousing
  Where we just had our first member die who hadn't moved in when we
started, over three decades ago. She spent this year at a memory care
nursing home across the street, with hopes of recovering from a stroke, but
other challenges proved too much even for her longtime-activist Yippie
energy to overcome.
