Pattern languages

Greetings! I'm new to this list, after just finding out about it in the
last few days. I've gone through the last three months' archives, and this
is JUST the sort of information my wife and I have been looking for.

The reason I'm writing, though, is to see if 1) people on this list are
familiar with the book "A Pattern Language: Towns, Buildings,
Construction," by Alexander et. al., 1977, Oxford University Press, and 2)
if so, if anyone has thought of creating a pattern langugage for cohousing?

I have certainly read the book "Cohousing," and it implies many of the
elements of a pattern language for cohousing. Also, the book "A Pattern
Language" itself contains many such patterns, formulated independently
(thus reinforcing their inherent validity).

I've been thinking about a cohousing pattern language, and if people are
interested, I can share the (measly) work I've done to date.

PS -- For the curious, my family and I live in North Carolina. We're very
interested in participating in cohousing someday, but not until we move to
the Pacific Northwest, where we'd like to settle. If anyone knows of any
cohousing groups in Portland or environs, we'd love to hear about them.
