Hello. I have a friend who is leaving very VERY soon to travel based
on a spiritual compulsion she has received. She is going to be
travelling across america, eventually coming to rest in california,
where she hopes to visit, form, or join some form of co-op, commune,
intentional community, or co-operative village. I did get the
alt.co-ops faq, and I have special ordered the book "directory of
intentional communities", but I am in toronto and it will take 6
weeks to arrive.  She will be gone by the time I get it.  So I say
to myself, "what's the fastest medium in the west?" 
the net.  
does anyone have a directory of communities my friend can look at
while she is travelling?  she's a very wonderful mother of three,
although she's travelling alone for a few weeks, she's quite serious
and not some freeloader who needs someone to take care of her.  If
you are a part of a community looking for more members, or you know
of any, or have a list/directory, or anything that might be even
remotely related, please post and/or email me the information you
