I just started "lurking" in this group so forgive me if someone already asked this question. I am a vegan, that means I do not eat meat, fish, milk, & eggs. I started doing this because of my wife's research. This showed that for health reasons (wanting a good maintained "healthy" diet) we made this drastic shift. Recently we have become aware of bio-friendly reasons we are doing this too. A farmer can raise more pounds of vegatables per acre than cattle. Grasing contributes to run-off/erosion. Correct me if I am wrong but I am hoping this concern for a healthy community should start with a concern for a healthy body. I notice that some "real men" wax and shine and maintain their cars better than that same stereotypical group takes care of old flesh and blood. Does anyone out there deal with a cohousing group that is part vegan or even just vegetarian? How does this work with shared meals. My wife and our 2 year old and I want very much to go into cohousing NOW and also want to maintain our high-test fuel consumption. Nyland, in Lafayette Colorado is near me and is a primarily vegetarian cohousing development. I know they exist, but what happens when there is not a majority of vegetarians/vegans and we still want to partake of shared meals. I can't think of a better way to keep the group glued together than shared meals. When people eat together they become brothers, don't you think? thanks, Matthew Woodbury
