At Sharingwood anyone anywhere can become an associate phase II member
by coming to visit once and making a $5,000 option agreement payment.
In order to maintain a place in the lot selection Queue. a prospective
member must do 40 hours of community service annually, otherwise they
go to the bottom of the lot selection queue.

We have one? (not sure if she actually followed through) person who
lives far away and who is an associate member. At Sharingwood If you
are not at the meeting where a decision is made, you don't have a voice
in the decision. We use our newsletter to publicize what decisions are
going to be made. In the past five years NOT ONE person who lived out
of state ever actually followed through and bought a lot and built a
home here or lasted more than 5-6 months as out of state members.
Consequently, we have little faith in folks from out of state actually
ever becoming our neighbors. Could happen maybe, hasn't yet for us.
