!! Community Development Society !!
===========================================================

July 23-26, 1995, Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA

"A VISION OF JUSTICE THROUGH THE GLOBE OF VILLAGES"

The Community Development Society (CDS) invites you to attend
and participate in its 27th annual conference on July 23rd to July
26th in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA. Your involvement is central to
the purpose of CDS - to encourage and facilitate the exchange of
ideas, information and expertise among individuals and organizations
engaged in or concerned with community development as a vehicle for
change in a constantly evolving world civilization.

The 27th annual conference theme, "A Vision of Justice Through the
Globe of Villages", reflects the very dramatic changes occurring
across the planet. The dominant social, political, and economic
patterns of the industrial era are being replaced by a society in
which two interdependent systems -- one global and one local -- are
creating the future. Community has begun to supersede states and
nation-states as the focus of fundamental change and adaptation.

In this new era of community, what will be the emerging patterns of
social, political and economic justice? How will the "new
opportunities" be extended to all "villagers"? How do we build just
and sustainable communities in the globe of villages?

Your involvement as a presenter , exhibitor or attendee is central to
the purpose of CDS.

We invite your participation in six categories:
Workshops - Presentations - Community Forums
Exhibits - Hallway Sessions - Share Fair

WORKSHOPS

An interactive learning experience featuring new critical thinking,
and providing new theories, concepts, practices, and methodological
techniques for developing and sustaining communities. Formats might
include success stories and/or failures, panels, presentation(s),
audience participation and response, or questions and answers. Could
also include work in progress, think pieces, or controversial issues
presented in creative group formats, simulations, debates, role
plays, or other participatory models.

The sessions will be 90 minutes long.

Workshops needing more time can be offered in two sessions.

PRESENTATIONS

Completed and on-going work in community development you wish to share
with your peers. Detailed, well-developed concepts / policies /
applications reflecting vision, process, results and conclusions. No
more than three presentations will be made each session to allow time
for critique, discussion, and summary.

Approximately 20 minutes given per presentation.

COMMUNITY FORUM

Session that brings together community development practitioners and
community residents (non CD professionals) to present in either a
"presentation" or "workshop" format. Community residents should share
their perspective and the community development practitioner will
participate as facilitator. The community development practitioners
may either have worked with the residents or simply be familiar
with their work.

Limited to two sessions.

EXHIBITS

A visual display set up for the duration of the conference. Display
may include, but is not limited to, information focusing on your
community, organization, chapter, section, projects, programs, case
studies, and publications which demonstrate community development
activity.

Exhibitors will be asked to staff displays periodically during the
conference.
