This brings to mind a little handout I received a while back from Marilyn Elie, who at the time was very active in the Westchester (NY) group. It's basically a chronological outline of suggested steps to before and after an event to garner maximum publicity. If this has not been covered before here, maybe I'll do an OCR scan to get this thing into my computer and out to the list. BTW, we had well over 200 people for an event here in Berkeley last month. To reinforce my earlier point (don't just rely on the mass media), quite a few people came as a result of calendar items or small articles placed in the newsletters of various eco- organizations around here. Also, I made a number of personal phone calls and visits to get these groups interested, and the president of one group (Urban Ecology) gave our keynote address. Note: it takes a lot of lead time to market an event this way. --------------- Don Lindemann, Editor, CoHousing cohomag [at] aol.com
