The "[FWD]" on the end of subject line is to alert list readers that the message has been posted to the list by someone other than the author. (I do not have an easy way to change my "From:" header line temporarily so they look like they came from me...) However when you reply to a [FWD] 'ed message it would be nice to remove the " [FWD] " from the subject line before posting your reply. I'm afraid mailing lists have some shortcomings and we work around them the best we can. We have over 400 subscribers now! And the volume of messages has hit new peaks. We need to keep trying to do what we can to minimize the dreaded information overload! 0) Remember, DO NOT SEND COMMANDS TO THE LIST ADDRESS. Commands go to listserv [at] uci.com . (I know I say this too often but I need to...) 1) If a reply is primarily to one person; send by email to that person and not to the list as a whole. 2) Please try to avoid "excessive quoting" . Just because you mailer quotes the entire message when you reply does not mean that you need to send tho entire quote back to the list. Delete as much of the quote as possible while leaving enough quoted to provide context. 3) While you're checking for excessive quotes read your message over and fix the worst typos etc before sending. Typos and poor wording make for difficult reading. If it's worth writing; it's worth your time to proof read it before sending. If it's too long to warrant your proofreading; it may be too long to bother posting since few will read it. Keep on writing - but maybe not at the pace of around groundhog's day :) Thanks.
