We selected ourselves out of our first group because we wearied of long, often (it seemed to us) pointless meetings (original site fell through, no new site; i.e., no capital progress it seemed after a year), but maybe it was because the 4 figure downpayments came due. That group went on to build, we later moved into a different, already developed one. I don't know, but I think most of us who were in group 1 then are not who are there now; but the "burning lights" are. I admire their tenacity. I feel we did the right thing for us at the the time, but it felt like chickening out. It would be interesting to hear comparisons between kibutzes, etc, and cohousing. **************************************************** * Arne Reinert <areinert [at] linknet.kitsap.lib.wa.us * * Winslow Cohousing Group, Bainbridge Island, WA * ****************************************************
