Highline crossing is considering setting up a woodworking shop somewhere on the property. It was axed from the original plans due to cost, but several members still feel that we need one somewhere. We are looking at temporary quarters in the common house basement, or in a garage, since we can't afford to build a separate building for it at this time. Some members have concerns that if a workshop is 'temporarily' quartered in the basement, for instance, that it will end up staying there, disrupting other future plans for the area. The mess is also a concern, as is safety (keeping kids out of the equipment). Other activities in the basement currently include a laundry room, bathroom, and, for the next year or so, the construction office. Electrical outlets in the basement are currently very limited, altho it is well lit. Plans for the basement were for the laundry, a guest room, teen room, exercise and meeting areas, etc. What sort of priority has a woodworking shop had? What sort of participation have they had? What locations have they been in? With what amenities, requirements, etc?
