Mike you asked: The part I don't like about cohousing is that it typically involves more development, putting human structures (however harmoniously) where nature was. Why can't we renovate existing neighborhoods? I highly recommend: Creating Community Anywhere, by Christine Shaffer. Good book on all the things people ARE doing to create community. I also recommend: Community Dreams by David? Berkowitz. Several good practical ideas here also.
