Arne, of course you're right to note that any means of commuting pollutes (some, like bikes very minimaly). But also it's a huge waste of time as I mentioned in my reply to Dan. How about looking into ways for the part-time, work-at-home businesses to grow and include more people to where your cohousing site has a few businesses that could eventually involve/support most residents? As organizations downsize and/or try to cut costs by saving on office space, they must be more open to having people telecommute or jobshare or whatever. Or, how about becoming a freelance consultant selling your services to your company out of your home? I frankly hope the downsizing trend continues. What if multinational corporations evolve to being networks in their industry where the large majority of workers are self-employed and offer services? So is your site wired for ethernet and multiple phone lines? Make sure you get on the fiber network for the info superhighway.. MikeM
