Hi!- A month or so ago an idea for creating a community to help children with disabilities was discussed on the our-kids list. Some of the ideas included special staff available (such as speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, medical, etc.) and handicap access to all buildings. I personally would like to see a school and community where these children are really integrated - and not increasingly isolated as the years go by. My impression is that no one on the our-kids list thought a community like this was actually possible; it was more a "pie-in-the-sky" kind of dreaming out loud. After reading the cohousing list for a few months, however, I am of the opinion that almost anything is possible. I have reintroduced the idea as a real possibility on the our-kids list. Would you be willing to help in brainstorming and problem solving this idea? Jim Freund jjjjandd [at] aol.com
