One of the most important elemens required for successfull neighborhoods was left of the list. If the homes in the neighborhood don't have a covered front porch big enough to sit 4 adults and a baby carriage, the folks only spend 15 seconds outside upon arriving home (say after work)--as well 85% of their time spent outside will be spent in their back yards. Not a great basis for cohousing neighborhood development. Contact Jan Gehl at the Danish Royal Academy for 30 years of research into this and other issues or me if you need more info.
