During the winter of 1989/90 N St Co-housing ate dinners in a single car
garage that wasn't nearly as nice as you describe. We moved from
potlucks to the garage situation because everyone still felt like they
had to prepare something for the potluck and a big advantage of meals
together is when you don't have to think about dinner except show up and
wash your plate. What I like about your description of the garage Rob is
that it sounds homey and comfortable. Ours was neither but we still
loved the meals we ate together there. It was the company not the
location that made it great.

I too would like to hear of any stories of even two houses joining
together. That is how we started in 1986 and we thought it was a
tremendous improvement. Anyone know of other retrofit beginnings?
