Peter I posted a scientific description of how neighborhoods "work" interpersonally--there is a downside to having the lots too big--there is no downside to having small lots--they are the best--whether the homes are attached or detached. When it comes to destroying the planet--then rowhouses is the only choice (they also "work" interpersonally). When it comes to market value and all that crap--who cares!-- if the neighborhood is planned, designed by the folks who are going to live there (as well as managing the construction--or actually doing the building themselves) then that becomes a non-issue (unless you want to make money).
