Another list I subscribe to uses an excellent method of obtaining member
profiles.  I heartily recommend it to the Coho-List managers.  Making this work
requires it being an official policy of the list;  if it's just a suggestion,
then not enough people do it to make it worthwhile.  Here is how it goes:

1. All new subscribers get a *Profile Template* in that automatic message sent
to all new members.  Having it be a template and automatically sent to everyone
is key.

2. The Template is preceeded and followed by a "clip here" line.

3. The new member is instructed to simply fill in the blanks, clip the Profile,
and post it. 

That's it, the system works, and all members definitly appreciate knowing who's
who.  Adding lines for subjective info adds a lot of interest and readibility.
